Supporting Aging Parents: Strategies for Care & Self-Care

Caring for an aging parent can bring love, connection, and meaningful moments but it can also bring stress, uncertainty, difficult decisions, and the feeling that you have to figure it all out on your own. This practical and encouraging conversation is designed to help caregivers navigate the challenges of caring for an aging loved one while also caring for themselves. Together, we will explore ways to move from reactive stress to proactive planning, strengthen communication and family relationships, and develop strategies that support your own wellbeing along the way. Whether you are currently caring for an aging parent, beginning to anticipate future needs, or supporting someone who is, this program will offer practical tools, encouragement, and a reminder that caring for someone else begins with making space to care for yourself, too.

Our presenters bring both professional expertise and personal experience to the caregiving journey. Ashley C. Brooks, MA, Founder of the Caregiver Institute for Wellbeing, combines more than 20 years of clinical and caregiving experience to help caregivers create sustainable approaches to care and develop a personal Caregiver Wellbeing Plan. Jennifer Szakaly, Founder and CEO of Caregiving Corner and an Aging Life Care Manager, brings extensive experience helping families navigate the emotional, relational, financial, and practical realities of aging and caregiving. Alex Bacon, MSW, LCSW, Therapist & Wellbeing Educator with The Center for Wellbeing and Care, will welcome our presenters, serve as our greeter, and introduce our speakers for the morning.
