Becoming Beloved Community Advent Journey
Our journey continues – and we welcome all pilgrims along the way to join us! For the last two Lents, we have had online conversations with fellow Episcopalians in the Charlotte convocation and even across the diocese. We have used the Episcopal Church’s curriculum as a guide for our conversations. This time, we’re mixing it up a little. First – it’s Advent! Secondly, we’re going to use Luke Powery’s Rise Up Shepherd – Advent Reflections on the Spirituals as the basis for our weekly discussions. It is available for purchase on line. Luke Powery is Dean of Duke University Chapel and associate professor of homiletics at Duke Divinity School in Durham.

- Wednesday, December 20 – “Week Four” in-person holiday potluck at Galilee Ministries, 3601 Central Avenue, including Kimberly Butler singing selected spirituals accompanied by Ben Outen, Christ Church Director of Music. Consider bringing a dish that you grew up eating as an integral part of your Christmas celebration.
