As the story of God and God’s people, the Bible can speak to you and guide you in ordinary and unexpected ways. Learning and cultivating your knowledge of the Bible is an incredible opportunity to come into God’s presence as you explore, grow, and deepen your faith. The Good Book is open to everyone! Consider inviting a friend, colleague, family member, or neighbor to join you and us.

On the first Sunday of each month, we collect diapers, period products, and incontinence supplies for the Diaper Bank of North Carolina, which distributes them to local agencies. You may drop off donations in the bin behind the reception area in the Rotunda.

This service includes scripture, prayers, a sermon, communion, and music. Congregational hymns are traditional, and the Christ Church Choir and Choristers (children) offer a broad range of choral music.

Children’s Chapel will be offered first and third Sundays in June, July, and August during 10:30 am services. Children’s Chapel is for children three years of age through fifth grade.

Freedom School is a five-week summer program that combats summer learning loss for children in grades K-8 with limited means. June 23 – July 31, we host a Freedom School site at Rama Road Elementary School, and we invite you to get involved!

Freedom School provides quality summer programs for students in grades K-8 in the Charlotte community. Christ Church assisted in sponsorship and provided volunteers for a Freedom School at Christ Lutheran Church in the summers of 2012 and 2013. In 2014, Christ Church sponsored its first Freedom School at Rama Road Elementary. Sixty-seven children from the school attended the summer program, and over 120 Christ Church parishioners volunteered.

We are always looking for volunteers! Youth are encouraged to serve on our teen board where teens can volunteer two weeks of their time in the classroom and on field trips. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

• Supply Deployment: Help us deliver materials and supplies from the Freedom School warehouse to Rama Road Elementary.
• Site Setup: Help with classroom setup.
• Parent Appreciation Gifts: On Parent Engagement Night we will raffle gift cards, self care items, gift baskets, goody bags, etc.
• Reading Buddies: Our scholars Drop Everything And Read (DEAR). Volunteers utilize Active Reading strategies to engage the scholar and instill a love of reading!
• Great Day of DEAR (Drop Everything And Read): Volunteers read one ore more pre-selected books alongside a scholar and help with a craft activity.
• Food Server at Finale: Help serve food at the Rama Finale.
• Site Clean-up/Break-down: We will pack up items and deliver them back to our FSP Latrobe Warehouse for storage until next summer.
