Current Needs in Our Community

In a season when many families are feeling the strain, the call to support our neighbors feels more urgent than ever. Find ways you can help below.

ourBRIDGE for Kids: Like many in our city, ourBRIDGE is still navigating the ripple effects of November’s raids and targeted attacks on our community. They supported more than 2,300 families with bills and groceries with the help of our Charlotte community. And still, beyond these tangible supports, many families are working to regain their financial footing and, most importantly, a sense of safety. Right now, ourBRIDGE is coordinating a drive for the baby items listed below. Please drop off supplies Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Charlotte Is Home Center located at 3400 Shamrock Dr, Charlotte, NC 28215.

  • Baby Shoes
  • Baby Clothing
  • Wipes
  • Formula
  • Diapers (any size appreciated, with sizes 5 & 6 needed most

Lydia’s Pantry: Shop Galilee Ministries of East Charlotte’s Amazon Wish List to deliver needed items directly to the center or bring items to the Rotunda, where a donation bin is now permanently stationed for drop-offs during business hours. Most needed items include:

  • Cereal
  • Boxed/canned milk
  • Low-sugar fruit cans/cups
  • Peanut butter
  • Cans of soup
  • Dignity products
  • Large reusable grocery bags with handles

Matthew 25 Casseroles: Bake and/or deliver casseroles once a month for the Salvation Army, Men’s Shelter, Charlotte Rescue Mission, and Roof Above.

Men’s Shelter Dinners: Prepare and serve dinner for our neighbors experiencing homelessness at the Men’s Shelter every 3rd Sunday and 4th Thursday of the month.

Room in the Inn: Every Sunday, December through March, Christ Church (along with over 100 other churches and organizations) provides emergency winter shelter for 12 unsheltered neighbors. Parishioners offer hospitality to those who have no place to call home. This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, especially those with young children.
