An Evening of Bach and Haydn: Music in a Time of Anxiety
The Christ Church Choir and the Queens University Chamber Orchestra present J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto III and Franz Josef Haydn’s Missa In Anguistiis (Lord Nelson Mass) to bring awareness to the work of HopeWay, Charlotte, a nonprofit behavioral health and mental health treatment facility. This concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required for admission.
Missa in Anguistiis was written by Haydn during the dark days of the Napoleonic War in Europe. As he was finishing it, the British General, Lord Nelson overtook Napoleon and changed the course of history. Haydn heard this news and completed his Mass with a jubilant and hopeful Agnus Dei, dona nobis pacem!
