Movie Discussion Group
Adults of all ages are invited to a Movie Discussion Group on Wednesday evening, October 30. Plan to enjoy Wednesday Night Dinner then join us at 7 pm in M207 to discuss the classic movie, Lilies of the Field. Parishioner Wayne Ballard, PhD will lead the discussion, which will include small clips from the movie.
The 1963 movie, starring Sidney Poitier, tells the story of an itinerant worker who encounters a group of East German nuns, who believe he has been sent to them by God to build them a new chapel. It was praised by critics and received numerous accolades, including five Academy Award nominations. In 2020, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
