Befriending Your Nervous System

We are bringing this program back following a sold-out class this summer.

Our nervous system is built for our survival, enabling us to respond quickly to threats with its “fight or flight” response. This works well for short-term, physical threats. However, our present-day stressors can cause us to remain in this heightened state when it no longer serves us. How can we recognize, and address in healthy ways, our mental and physical responses to this heightened state?

Join us for a program about our nervous systems and how we can use our minds and our bodies for calming, led by Amy Styers Bissette, LCSW, Therapist and Wellbeing Educator in The Center for Wellbeing & Care. We will discuss techniques and skills from multiple mental health modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory. Registration is required.
