Befriending Your Nervous System
Our nervous system is built for our survival, to enable us to respond quickly to physical threats with its “fight or flight” response. Present-day stressors can cause us to remain in this heightened state when it no longer serves us. How can we recognize and address in healthy ways our mental and physical responses to this heightened state? Join us for a discussion of our nervous system and how we can use our minds and our bodies for calming, led by Amy Styers Bissette, LCSW, therapist in The Center for Wellbeing & Care. Amy will draw from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Polyvagal Theory to explore this topic.
