Wayne Ballard began his journey with Christ Church in the Fall of 2019. Wayne and Kim started confirmation class in the Winter of 2020. Covid presented itself so the Ballards completed class online and were confirmed outdoors under the old majestic tree. Wayne and Kim have two adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and three amazing grand-children. Wayne received a ministerial license in 1983 serving in various roles as a professor, full time and interim pastor, and international lecturer. Wayne has taught university level classes on every continent except Antarctica, and he has not given up on that dream!

Wayne can be found at Christ Church frequently reading as a lector and/or serving as a Chalice Bearer for one of the 8:45 worship services. He has served on the Adult Spiritual Formation Commission for the past three years, serving as chair for the past two years. As schedule allows Wayne enjoys attending the Men’s Breakfasts and ministry events at Christ Church. Wayne recently fulfilled a twenty-five year dream of hiking to Mount LeConte and spending the night in the lodge. Thanks to the patience, grace, and encouragement of Dr. Stuart Garner and others, Wayne accomplished this goal in October of this year. He also frequently teaches the Week Word Bible Study each Sunday morning. The Well continues to be Wayne’s favorite worship experience at Christ Church.

Ballard’s educational background includes two PhD’s. The first PhD was earned from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Hebrew Language/Old Testament Studies, the second PhD was earned from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN in Higher Education Administration. Ballard’s teaching posts include The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Campbell University, Carson-Newman University, and Charlotte Christian College & Theological Seminary. A few of Ballard’s international teaching posts include time in Sydney, Australia; Cape Town, South Africa; Madrid, Spain; London, England; Belmopan, Belize (three times); and St. Petersburg, Russia (three times). Ballard recently served as the Interim President of Charlotte Christian College & Theological Seminary for sixteen months.

Ballard is also a Regional Vice President with Primerica Advisors. Wayne has worked in the area of Financial Services for the past nine years with offices in Uptown on the 8^th floor of the Regions Bank building. He serves as an Investment Advisor Representative and enjoys helping families and small business with personal investment strategies. His personal book of business spans from coast to coast.
