Gather with other adults to discuss scripture in a smaller group setting. This Bible study follows the same stories as our children’s Sunday school, helping us to learn the Bible across generations. No registration; stop by when you can.
January 4: Jesus is Born for Us
In the middle of the night, in an unexpected place, good news breaks into the world: a Savior is born. This Sunday, we’ll revisit the familiar yet astonishing story of Jesus’ birth, and reflect on what it means for God to come close—not just then, but now. (Luke 2:1–10)
January 11: The Season of Epiphany
Epiphany means “revealing”—and the season that follows Christmas invites us to notice how Christ is made known in our lives and in the world. This Sunday, we’ll follow the journey of the Magi and reflect on what it means to seek, recognize, and respond to the light of Christ. (Matthew 2:1–12)
January 18: Jesus Grows Up
What was Jesus like as a child? This Sunday, we’ll explore the few glimpses scripture gives us into Jesus’ early years—from his presentation at the temple to his surprising wisdom as a boy. As we reflect on these stories, we’ll consider how we grow in faith and how God is present at every stage of life. (Luke 2:21–52)
January 25: Who Am I? Jesus Models the Baptismal Answer
In the wilderness, Jesus is tempted to prove himself, take control, and turn away from God. Instead, he lives the truth spoken at his baptism: “You are my beloved.” This Sunday, we’ll reflect on how Jesus models the promises we make in our own Baptismal Covenant—to persevere in resisting evil, to live by God’s word, and to put our trust in God alone. (Luke 4:1–13)
February 1: Loved and Forgiven; Forgiven and Loved
A woman weeps at Jesus’ feet. A Pharisee watches with judgment. Jesus tells a story about forgiveness that reorients the room—and our hearts. This Sunday, we’ll reflect on what it means to be fully seen, deeply forgiven, and truly loved. (Luke 7:36–50)
February 8: Jesus Makes People Well
Two stories, one Savior: a desperate father and a suffering woman both reach out to Jesus—and find healing in very different ways. This Sunday, we’ll explore how Jesus responds to faith, fear, and need, and what it means to be made whole. (Luke 8:40–56)
February 22: The Season of Lent
Lent invites us into the wilderness—not to get lost, but to pay attention. This Sunday, we’ll walk with Jesus into the desert and reflect on what it means to face temptation, remember who we are, and turn our hearts back to God. (Matthew 4:1–11)
March 8: Never Give Up: Stories of Unceasing Prayer
“Lord, teach us to pray.” What follows is not just a pattern of words, but a call to persistence, trust, and boldness before God. This Sunday, we’ll explore Jesus’ teaching on prayer—from the Lord’s Prayer to stories of knocking on closed doors. What does it mean to pray without giving up? (Luke 11:1–13)
March 15: Growing Mighty Big: Parables of the Growing Kingdom
Jesus tells parables about barns and mustard seeds, yeast and the hidden work of God. This Sunday, we’ll explore how the Kingdom grows—not through grasping or greed, but through trust, generosity, and small things with great purpose. What are we building with our lives? (Luke 12:13–21; 13:18–20)
March 22: Come to God’s Table: Parables of Invitation and Welcome
Jesus tells stories of banquets where the guest list is turned upside down—where humility is honored, the poor are welcomed, and those on the margins are brought to the center. This Sunday, we’ll reflect on what it means to receive God’s invitation and extend that welcome to others. (Luke 14:7–24)
April 12: Why Do You Look for the Living Among the Dead?
At dawn, the women come to the tomb expecting to grieve—and are met instead with an empty grave and a startling question. This Sunday, we’ll hear the Easter story from Luke’s Gospel and reflect on where we search for life, hope, and resurrection. What does it mean to live as people of the risen Christ? (Luke 24:1–12)
April 19: Our Earth is God’s Earth: Care for the Land
“In his hand are the caverns of the earth… for the sea is his, and he made it.” This Sunday, we’ll pray with the psalms and reflect on what it means to worship the Creator by caring for creation. How might reverence lead to responsibility—and joy? (Psalm 95:1–7)
April 26: Let Your Light Shine: Use Your Talents and Gifts Wisely
“You are the light of the world.” With these words, Jesus reminds us that faith isn’t meant to be hidden—it’s meant to shine. This Sunday, we’ll explore how our gifts, big or small, can reflect God’s love and make a difference in the world. (Matthew 5:14–16)
May 3: Harmony: How We Live Together
When asked what matters most, Jesus gives a clear and challenging answer: love God with all you are, and love your neighbor as yourself. This Sunday, we’ll reflect on these words as a guide for living with integrity, compassion, and connection. What does real love look like in community? (Mark 12:28–31)
May 10: Wisdom, Courage, and Care: Lessons from Women of Faith
From the bravery of the midwives in Egypt, to the loyalty of Ruth, to the prophetic joy of Mary and Elizabeth—scripture offers powerful stories of women whose faith shaped the world. This Sunday, we’ll explore how these women responded to God with wisdom, courage, and deep care, and reflect on what their lives can teach us about our own. (Exodus 1:15–2:10; Ruth 1:6–18; Luke 1:39–56)

Extend hospitality with us! Every Sunday, December through March, Christ Church (along with over 100 other churches and organizations) provides emergency winter shelter for 12 unsheltered neighbors (men, women, and/or families). Parishioners offer hospitality to those who have no place to call home. This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, especially those with young children.
Volunteers are the heart of this ministry. Every week we need people to fill the following roles:
- Set up (4 – 6 volunteers; 4:30 – 6 pm)
- Dinner (4 – 6 volunteers; 5:30 – 7 pm)
- Overnight Hosts age 21+ (2 volunteers; 7 pm – 7 am)
- Van Drivers (2 trained volunteers; pick up van at Christ Church at 4:45 pm on Sunday and 5:45 am on Monday to drive guests to and from the Roof Above Center.)
- Breakfast (2 volunteers)
- Supply bag lunches (1 – 2 volunteers)
